Our mission is to provide services and tools to help bay area residents become financially stable, and to empower all people to overcome poverty to achieve a sustainable lifestyle.

Online Tax Preparation Services

River of Life Foundation is an IRS-certified Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) center that offers free tax filing service to people who make annual income $58,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.

Our approach is unique because we understand that our community’s most critical issues are inter-related. We want to make a positive impact, helping thousands of local residents become financially stable and self-sufficient.

2022 UPDATE - ONLINE, NO WALK-IN!

Due to the pandemic, our entire VITA program will be conducted in an online, remote format this year. If your annual household income is less than $58,000, and you need assistance with your taxes, you can receive free online help during this tax season. Registration is from January 23, 2022 to the end of March, 2022. Please call 408-567-0877 to schedule an appointment.

WHY THIS WORK IS IMPORTANT

Tax season can be a stressful time for many people, as they round up tax documents and receipts, and make sense of confusing tax forms. Additionally, many of these families face additional challenges in doing their own taxes –English may not be their primary language or they may have limited computer skills.

We train volunteer tax preparers to help individuals and families claim their maximum benefit and refund.

Free Laptop Program

ROLF believes that education is the key to end the generational poverty in a family. If their next generations are given the resources and opportunity for good education, it would be an indirect but long-term support to these families. We hope those laptops can provide more resources and inspire the motivation for their digital learning.

Every Year since 2013 our Foundation has been working with the Gardner Family care services to offer free laptops to more than hundreds of children who come from underprivileged families in our local communities. We are honored to be partnering with Gardner Family Care to continue our Foundation Mission objectives reaching out to our local community and impacting the lives of many kids.

With access to laptop, children are engaged in their own education, and learn, share, and create together. They become connected to each other, to the world and to a brighter future.
